Alcoholic Hot Chocolate

I baked the Korova Cookies today and I will blog about them tomorrow, but I just wanted to fill you in with a recipe I just tried and that I'm completely in love with: Alcoholic Hot Chocolate! I've been eyeing this recipe ever since I bought Nigella Lawson's book 'Feast'. I'm not normally one for hot chocolate, but the video of Nigella is what made me try the recipe out this evening.

Now let me tell you the ingredients of this recipe, and pay attention: Real chocolate, honey, cinnamon, light brown sugar, vanilla, full-fat milk and my favorite, dark rum! I mean how could this not be good?!?! No seriously, I LOVE this recipe! I do realize that this recipe is quite extravagant, but after tasting this, I doubt I will use Nesquik ever again!

I didn't took any pictures of it of course, but here's the video of Nigella Lawson making it:

Alcoholic Hot Chocolate recipe: Nigella Lawson - Feast

Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk
- 3 ½ oz bittersweet or semisweet chocolate (I used milk chocolate)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons dark rum

Instructions:
- Put the milk into a saucepan. Break the chocolate into pieces and add to the milk along with the cinnamon, honey and sugar. Heat gently until the chocolate's melted. Add the vanilla and mix with a small hand whisk and, stillw hisking add a spoonful of the rum first and taste to see if you want more (no point pouring in all at once as it's too late to do anything about it if it's too strong for you) and add more sugar if you want this sweeter, too. Take out the cinnamon stick and pour into two mugs.

I think I would like this without the alcohol - is that too straight edge??

I also not a huge fan of hot chocolate and normally won't seek it out. This one, however, sounds perfect for the colder weather. Gotta love Nigella for going all out!
